Differential Repair Services
The differential is responsible for transferring engine power to the wheels. It also compensates for and adjusts to the differences in wheel speed as your vehicle moves through turns. When your vehicle navigates a turn, the inside wheel turns slower than the outside wheel, which has to turn faster in order to keep pace with the inside wheel. The differential allows the wheels to turn at different speeds while maintaining control.
At North Bay Differentials, our techs are certified and specialize in differential transmission repairs. We have the experience, diagnostic equipment and technical know-how to diagnose and carry out differential repairs properly, effectively and quickly.

Clutch Repair Services
Our professionals are experts at identifying clutch issues, installations, and repairs. There are symptoms of a bad clutch.
Those include:
Feels Spongy – A clutch that feels soft or "spongy" when you press down on it may be a sign that your clutch is beginning to break down.
Trouble Shifting or Burning Smell – If you have difficulties shifting gears or smell something burning each time you press down on the clutch, call us right away. These two issues are vital signs of a failing clutch. If your clutch needs replaced, bring your vehicle in, and we will perform a diagnostic check on it. We'll then repair your clutch and have you on your way.
Visible Damage to the Clutch – If you have some mechanical knowledge, you can remove the inspection cover at the bottom of your bell housing to see your clutch. When a clutch is failing, there will be visible damage to the clutch. There will also be black powder around the clutch caused by wear and tear. If you inspect your clutch and find damage, give us a call.
Suspension Repair Services:
The suspension system in your vehicle is a structure designed to maximize the friction between the tires and the surface of the road, provide adequate handling as well as steering control, and ensure that passengers are comfortable. As the tires hit different bumps, cracks, and holes on the road, this could cause the wheels to move upward and transfer that energy to the frame of the vehicle. The suspension works to absorb that energy to make sure that you are firmly planted on the road and feel comfortable as you drive along. The suspension plays an important role in maintaining comfort and safety.
Different Components of the Suspension System
Frame:This is the primary basis of your vehicle. It supports the weight of the engine and body.
Suspension System:This refers to the setup that absorbs shocks, supports the weight of the vehicle, and keeps the tires planted on the ground.
Steering System:The steering system allows the driver to turn the vehicle. The system allows light force from the steering wheel to turn the vehicle.
Tires and Wheels:The wheels turn around to move the vehicle, while a tire is the rubber ring that covers the wheel's rims. The tires are designed to keep a solid grip on the road.
Struts: Struts have two different purposes: to dampen and provide structural support.
Axles:Axles are rods that support the weight of the vehicle and turn the wheels. Some signs that your axles need service include vibrations and your vehicle being unable to move forward or backward.
If you need to get your suspension repaired, come to North Bay Differentials in Santa Rosa where our Reliable technicians can take a look at your suspension and get it back to its original condition.
Transfer Case Repair
If you own a 4-wheel drive vehicle, then you are likely familiar with transfer cases. A transfer case makes sure you have power to both the front and rear axles. If you have a sport utility vehicle, power goes to the rear wheels until you need a 4-wheel drive. When you require that power, that's when the transfer case kicks in. The transfer case will transfer some of the power to the front wheels. Your vehicle may have a shift lever to engage 4-wheel drive, or it could be a button on the dashboard. In many vehicles, it will even go into 4-wheel drive automatically.
Your transfer case should be serviced periodically. This is done by draining its fluid and replacing it with fresh fluid. When you have this service performed at North Bay Differentials, Santa Rosa we will also look for leaks or damage. The fluids from the transfer case will lubricate the gears, chains, bearings, shafts, and other parts of your vehicle. Over time, the additives in the fluid will wear out and not protect the other parts as well. Pieces of metal and clutch material can also wear off and contaminate the fluid.
Axle, CV Joint & Driveshaft Repair
Your vehicle's axle, CV joint, and driveshaft components are integral to the performance and drivability of your vehicle. The driveshaft is a steel or aluminum cylindrical component that connects the transmission to the rear differential. The driveshaft connects to the transmission through the CV joints, which are responsible for transferring the torque from the transmission to the drive wheels at a constant speed. Front wheel drive vehicles use CV joints on the front axles. CV joints allow the axle to bend and change while accommodating the bounce of the wheels. The axle bears the weight of the vehicle while also being strong enough to sustain the forces from braking and accelerating. Over time and through normal use, your vehicle's axle, CV joint, and driveshaft components may require maintenance or replacement services.
Clunking or clicking noises are signs that a CV joint needs replacement. Vibrations during acceleration may indicate a damaged driveshaft, though they may also point to an axle issue depending on the layout of your vehicle. Turning and steering issues may also arise out of a problem with the driveshaft. CV joints can go bad when the grease leaks out of a damaged CV boot. There are various determinants for how quickly your vehicle's axle, CV joint, and driveshaft components will degrade over time. If you would like to learn more about the intervals between repairs for front wheel drive axles, main driveshafts, CV joints, U-joints, yokes, and other axle assembly components, then contact us today.
